How Sleep Affects Our Appetite and Metabolism

Did you know that you can help improve your metabolism and lose weight by improving your sleep? Lack of sleep causes many problems including:

-Increased hunger
-Increased food intake
-Cravings for carbs
-Even inflammation!

When our body is in need of energy to keep us awake and alert. Our body sees carbs as a fast way to get energy. So you can see how skimping on sleep can sabotage the work you’re doing at the gym. Sleep deprivation can have detrimental long-term effects on your health (such as weight gain, diabetes, inflammation, and irregular hormone levels).

Make sleep a priority by trying some new techniques if you need to in order to get a better night’s sleep. Set a timer to go to sleep. Make sure that your room is completely dark and quiet. Pick your ideal bedtime and try to maintain that same bedtime every night, even on weekends.

Have a nighttime routine of taking a bath, reading a book, or drinking tea in order to help you calm down before bed. Chamomile tea or valerian root tea are both great for aiding in sleep.

Remember that the more sleep you get, the better your day will be. It also helps me with hormonal regulation. Sweet dreams!
